Exploring medicinal plants in Reunion Island

Damien Sollet

Thierry Joët and Stéphane Dussert joined Damien Sollet in Réunion for the launch of the Qualitiz project (Feder 2025-2028, coordinated by IRD), carried out in partnership with UMR ChemBioPro (University of Réunion), UMR PVBMT (Cirad-Réunion/UR) and Armeflhor.

This project focuses on the island’s medicinal plants with three main objectives:

– Analyze the genetic and chemical diversity of local species.

– Characterize the biosynthesis pathways of bioactive molecules.

– Identify best cultivation practices to optimize their production.
