Through this interview on the International Certificate in Bioinformatics and Genomics (CIBiG), researchers and experts highlight a major challenge for Africa: strengthening local capacity in genomics and bioinformatics to better address issues related to health, agriculture, and the environment. From pathogen surveillance and crop improvement to the analysis of next-generation sequencing data, the CIBiG trains a new generation of scientists capable of generating, analyzing, and interpreting genomic data directly within Africa.
