Sequencing the hidden biodiversity of the Amazon present in the air, water, and soil

The METAMAZON Structuring Training Project (PSF), focused on environmental DNA and metabarcoding, organized the second year of its training program last September in the heart of the Amazon, in Iquitos, Peru. Nora Scarcelli and Julien Serret helped lead this training program, with various activities taking place at the Peruvian Amazon Research Institute (IIAP) and within the Allpahuayo Mishana reserve. The group of biologists, researchers, engineers, and students from Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina, and Brazil enthusiastically gathered for this second part of the PSF, which focused on sampling, DNA extraction, metabarcoding, and MinION sequencing.
