Research profile:
In line with the teaching profile and in accordance with the scientific theme developed within the UMR DIADE, the candidate will propose a research project on the adaptation of cultivated tropical plants or model plants to variations in the abiotic environment, using integrative and potentially multi-scale approaches (from the cell to the plant/population), to be implemented in one of the Unit’s teams (https://www.umr-diade.fr/equipes-diade/).
The DIADE research unit brings together researchers from the University of Montpellier, IRD, and CIRAD. Their work covers plant biodiversity, its development, and its adaptation to the environment, with a particular focus on wild and cultivated plants in developing countries. DIADE uses and develops approaches in genomics, epigenetics, analytical chemistry, imaging, and data science to characterize and understand the exceptional richness of plants in tropical regions, preserve these resources, and make them useful to society. DIADE’s research on plant interactions and adaptation to their environment contributes to addressing the challenges of food security and sovereignty, as well as sustainable agricultural production in a context of climate change and agroecological transition.

Teaching profile:
The university professor recruited will join the Biology-Mechanisms of Life (Bio-MV) department of the Faculty of Science. He or she will mainly be part of the Functional Plant Biology teaching team (development/mineral and carbon nutrition/interactions with the abiotic and biotic environment). He or she will help to strengthen teaching capacities in plant biology and physiology at the Faculty of Sciences in Montpellier. They will be primarily responsible for teaching in the field of plant physiology. They will contribute their expertise in the study of plant responses to environmental stresses (both biotic and abiotic) at levels ranging from the cellular to the field scale. As the recruitment schedule will allow the successful candidate to be involved in the implementation of the LMD6 at the University of Montpellier, particular attention will be paid to the ability to develop innovative teaching approaches in line with the policy of the relevant department and the institution. At the bachelor’s level, the successful candidate will teach in particular in the Biology Mechanisms of Life program and in the EVAPPMT professional agronomy program.
At the Master’s level, he will teach courses in Plant Biology in the Biology-Agrosciences program on the same topics.
In the medium term, he will take charge of managing and coordinating a program (Master’s or Bachelor’s degree) and may be involved in coordinating/setting up regional or international inter-institutional partnerships for training in plant physiology (Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees). Teaching department or teaching team: Biology Mechanisms of Life.
