Fabienne Morcillo and Thibaut Bontpart carried out a mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo from September 21 to October 10, as part of the ASC Korlom project (UMR DIADE, UMR ABSys, Enabel, INERA). This mission focused on studying the nutritional quality of red palm oil produced in villages in the province of Lomami.
They coordinated the collection of palm oil from farmers using different plant materials and processing techniques, and led a workshop to present the project, including a sensory analysis of the oils collected.
The mission also included meetings with Enabel’s Agriculture, Climate, and Environment Expert and the regional director of INERA.
Finally, Fabienne Morcillo and Thibaut Bontpart presented their work at the conference organized by PalmElit and Indigo in Kinshasa on good practices in oil palm production.
