External service
The platform does not provide services in the strict sense of the term. However, several teams from different joint research units (UMRs) in Montpellier use our analytical chemistry platform for collaborative projects, contributing to the costs of consumables and small equipment.

The analytical chemistry platform is equipped with:

  • three liquid chromatography systems (Agilent, Shimadzu) coupled with diode array UV detectors (LC-DAD) or fluorescence detectors (LC-Fluo);
  • two gas chromatographs (Agilent) coupled with flame ionization detectors (GC-FID);
  • one gas chromatograph (Agilent) coupled to a mass spectrometer (GC-MS);
  • a nitrogen flow evaporator (Organomation) and a rotary evaporator (Buchi).

When an analytical method relies on an instrument that is not available in the platform (LC-MS, NMR, NIRS), collaborations are developed with partner platforms (Pôle Chimie Balard, Montpellier; Plateau de Phénotypage Arcad, Montpellier; LIPANG, Grenoble; Bordeaux Métabolome, etc.).

Numerous applications developed in the platform are available and used routinely, mainly for lipid analysis (fatty acids, tocochromanols, carotenoids, terpenes, sterols, cuticular waxes), but also for specialized metabolites (chlorogenic acids, methylxanthines, etc.), and more recently for the purification of phytohormones. The platform can also provide assistance with any new methodological request or feasibility assessment.
