My current research focuses on the function of key genes involved in the capacity of the abscission zone (AZ) to undergo cell separation, which determines the timing of abscission in the ripe fruits of the monocotyledonous oil palm (Elaeis guineensis). Comparative molecular, cellular, genomic, and genetic studies are used to understand the function of the multilayered primary AZ of E. guineensis.
